The Lafayette Community Fridge is a network of three free, publicly accessible community fridges in Lafayette, Abbeville, and Scott, Louisiana. Anyone can take food from a Lafayette Community Fridge at no cost, with no signup, no paperwork, and no questions asked. The fridges are a project of Foodies of Lafayette, stocked by neighbors and by local restaurants that donate prepared food.

Where are the Lafayette Community Fridge locations?
There are three Lafayette Community Fridge locations in Acadiana: 2905 E. Simcoe Street in Lafayette, outside McMillan’s Pub; 620 Charity Street in Abbeville, at T-Boy’s Flea Market; and 125 Lions Club Road in Scott, beside the Scott Boudin Festival grounds.
Who can use the community fridges, and do I need to sign up?
Anyone can use a Lafayette Community Fridge. The food is free, there is no signup, no paperwork, no income check, and no questions asked. Take what you need and leave what you can.
Where does the food in the fridges come from?
Neighbors drop off groceries, and local restaurants donate prepared food in to-go containers. Lagneaux’s supplies the fridges Tuesday through Friday and has donated close to 10,000 meals to the Lafayette Community Fridge. Rascal’s Cajun Restaurant supplies the Scott fridge seven days a week.
What should I donate to a community fridge?
Shelf-stable, easy-open items help most: canned proteins like tuna, chicken, and beans; peanut butter; rice and dried beans; canned soup, pasta and sauce; shelf-stable milk; fresh produce; bottled water; kid-friendly snacks; and hygiene items. Food can be dropped directly into any of the three fridges.
How can I volunteer with the Lafayette Community Fridge?
Volunteers pick up donated food from partner restaurants, stock the fridges, and check on them at drop-off. Claim a slot on the donation run signup, then join the volunteer crew on BAND to see where help is needed next.
How do I donate money to the Lafayette Community Fridge?
Donations are accepted through Venmo and PayPal. Every dollar buys food and keeps the fridges running.
Who runs the Lafayette Community Fridge?
The Lafayette Community Fridge is a mutual aid project powered by Foodies of Lafayette, a Lafayette, Louisiana food community. It runs on donated labor and materials from local businesses: Logic Refrigeration HVAC built the Scott structure and donated the commercial refrigerators, GrafXPlus wraps the fridges, Taylors International and Sysco supply containers, SaveIt Self Storage donates storage space, and McMillan’s Pub, T-Boy’s Flea Market, and the City of Scott host the fridge sites.
