Jerry Bobb—Super Taters
Share
Jerry's journey began long before the opening of Super Taters. After graduating from Franklin Senior High School, he pursued a bachelor’s degree from the University of Phoenix and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Armed with a strong educational background and experience working at multiple restaurants throughout college and his career, Jerry was inspired to incorporate the experiences he had gained over the years into a unique restaurant concept.
The innovative idea behind Super Taters is the seamless incorporation of traditional dishes with baked potatoes, resulting in a menu that boasts over 100 different varieties of baked potatoes, as well as burgers, wraps, salads, and soups. All these offerings, including hot sandwiches, wraps, burgers, quesadillas, salads, and soups, are homemade in-house-made original recipes. Jerry explains his philosophy: “I think potatoes are great and versatile. I designed the menu to be completely customizable so people can have exactly the type of potato they like.” This approach earned the restaurant an award for Best Baked Potato in Acadiana from The Daily Advertiser and a nomination for Best Restaurant.
Despite facing challenges during the 2020 lockdown phases, Super Taters experienced a massive boom in business. Even when faced with unprecedented demand, Jerry’s commitment to quality and refusal to cut corners set the restaurant apart. This dedication to providing the best possible experience for each customer has been a cornerstone of the restaurant's success. Some of their most popular styles of baked potatoes include étouffée, alfredo, boudin jack, and Ragin Cajun, all carefully crafted to satisfy a wide range of palates.
Beyond serving delicious food, Super Taters has a strong commitment to the community. Jerry actively participated in the FoodNet Food for Families Food Drive by matching donations collected by his customers, demonstrating the restaurant's dedication to giving back to the community that has supported it over the years.
Jerry's dedication goes beyond the kitchen. Although Super Taters has been open for almost a decade, Jerry still shows up for work from open to close daily because quality, feedback, and maintaining high-quality standards are important to him. His efforts have not gone unnoticed; he finished 7th place in a worldwide Favorite Chef competition in 2020 and was featured in the Marquis "Who's Who in America" yearly publication in 2022.
In conclusion, Super Taters is not just a restaurant but a testament to Jerry Bobb’s passion, innovation, dedication to quality, and community. With an award-winning menu, a commitment to customer satisfaction, and active involvement in the community, it is no wonder that Super Taters has won the Best of Acadiana award for ’best-baked potato’ four times and has become a beloved destination for locals and visitors alike.
